SWANA has a strong commitment to safety and is determined to help move the waste collection industry off of the federal government’s list of 10 most dangerous jobs and reduce accidents and injuries. The resources available via the link below represent part of that effort.
Our mission is to Educate, Innovate, and Communicate.
Representing SWANA's core functions,
these three words also categorize the many benefits
SWANA association members receive.
For more than 50 years, the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) has been the leading professional association in the solid waste field. Founded in 1962,
the association has 10,000+ members.
Our Chapter serves almost 300 members throughout Georgia, and other areas, through conferences, certifications, publications, and technical training courses. SWANA-Georgia represents industry leaders from every discipline in solid waste management. Our chapter provides multiple benefits to our members, including the opportunity to hear about the latest technologies and/or developments in our industry and to network with other solid waste professionals.
Our purpose is to:
• Educate solid waste management professionals and decision makers by providing training programs; supporting the professionalism of individuals and organizations; participating in local, state and federal legislative processes; and, maintaining strong relationships with state regulatory staff.
• Promote sound, innovative, economical and environmentally safe solid waste management facilities and practices.
• Advocate government responsibility for assuring the availability of solid waste management services.
