Landfill and Equipment Road-E-O

This year’s Road-E-O was held June 4-5 at the Veolia ES Taylor County Landfill in beautiful Mauk, Georgia.
Our wonderful hosts were Roy Walton and his staff at Taylor County Landfil

This event is primarily designed to be a reward for the frontline troops who rarely get to attend conferences and see how SWANA works for them and the industry. We should encourage and reward qualifying personnel to attend, compete and demonstrate their skills. The SWANA-Georgia Chapter sponsors overall winners (from the truck and equipment events) to compete against industry peers from throughout the United States and Canada in the SWANA International Road-E-O. This year’s International Road-E-O will be held in Kentucky on September 27th (Louisville for equipment and Lexington for truck). Competitors by event were:

We salute all of our competitors for their achievements in safe operation in our industry! Cash prizes and plaques with finishing place were given to 1st ($100), 2nd ($75) & 3rd ($50) place winners (when we had 3 or more competitors).

Overall winners for the Equipment and Truck competitions – and winners of the sponsorships to the International Road-E-O are: Steve Edge from Laurens County Solid Waste Authority for Equipment,
and Richard Tubbs from Athens-Clarke County SWMA for Trucks.

Laurens County SWMA Director Michael Snipes accepts (from Road-E-O Chair Joel Scott) the 1st place trophy for Equipment opertaor. His employee, Steve Edge, was the top competitor in this category but was unable to be present for the award ceremony.	Athens-Clarke County SW Director Jim Corley stands with Truck operator and 1st place winner Richard Tubbs as Road-E-O Chair Joel Scott presents him with the top trophy.
