SWANA – Georgia Chapter AWARDS PROGRAM INFORMATION The Georgia Chapter of SWANA has established this annual awards program to recognize outstanding solid waste programs and individuals throughout the state.
Why Apply? Receive the much needed recognition you, your facility and/or program deserve. What a better way to be recognized for all your hard work? The SWANA-Georgia Chapter will present the awards at its Annual Fall Conference.
Deadline: Your award entry must be postmarked no later than August 31.
Eligibility: To be eligible for a Georgia Chapter SWANA Award, an applicant must be a member in good standing as of July 1st.
Award Categories: The SWANA-Georgia Chapter awards are intended to distinguish outstanding solid waste management operations in Georgia. The following award categories have been established for solid waste programs and professionals. You may enter different programs under different categories, but you may not enter the same program under more than one category.
Solid Waste Program Award Categories: Collection System; Communication, Education and Marketing tools (CEM); Composting; Education; Integrated Solid Waste Management Systems; Landfill Gas/Biogas; Landfill Management/Reuse; Recycling/Sustainable Materials Management; Special Waste; Transfer Station; and, Waste to Energy
Solid Waste Professional Award Categories: Outstanding Solid Waste Professional--Private Sector; Outstanding Solid Waste Professional--Public Sector; and, SWANA-Georgia Chapter Volunteer of the Year
Solid Waste Worker of the Year Award Categories: Adminsitrative/Support Operations; Collections; Landfill Operations; Recycling; and, Transfer Station Operations
Solid Waste Safety Award Categories: Biggest Safety Improvement; Best Safety Innovation
Winner Recognition: Aside from being publicly recognized during the Annual Awards Luncheon held in conjunction with the SWANA-Georgia Chapter Fall Conference, SWANA-Georgia Chapter will issue a press release to both local and Atlanta area media outlets announcing award winners. Award winners will also be highlighted on the SWANA-Georgia Chapter website located at www.gaswana.org.
