Dear SWANA-Georgia Chapter Members,
The Solid Waste Association of North Georgia (SWANA)-Georgia Chapter and the Georgia Recycling Coalition are celebrating Waste & Recycling Workers Week again this year. The theme for 2022 is Solid Waste Workers are Superheroes! Waste and Recycling Workers Week will be celebrated June 12-18, 2022. This effort by SWANA-Georgia Chapter is intended to elevate the importance of Solid Waste Workers across Georgia. Solid Waste Workers may not be able to bend steel with their bare hands or leap tall buildings in a single bound but they collect trash, recycling and compostables in all types of weather to protect our health and safety. Solid Waste Workers may not fly around in an invisible jet but are skilled Commercial Drivers and Collectors that are employed in the sixth most dangerous profession in the United States (unfortunately, they do not have vibranium suits to protect them). Solid Waste Workers may not possess Captain America’s shield but they do have tools and skills to manage our trash in landfills across the state that met and exceed regulatory standards. Solid Waste Workers are TRUE Superheroes! Please join us and celebrate Waste & Recycling Workers Week, June 12-18! To support your celebration for this week, we are providing you with this toolkit of information, ideas and guidance. Click the buttons in the right column for:
